Thank you for following our work throughout 2023. Let’s continue with our joint efforts to make 2024 a year of substantial reforms on Serbia’s EU path. We wish you merry holidays, a joyous and fruitful New Year!

prEUgovor wishes you merry holidays

In 2023, we marked the 10th anniversary of our Coalition.

We published two semiannual shadow reports on Rule of Law reforms in Serbia (prEUgovor Alarm Reports),

two institutional barometers measuring the effectiveness of selected national and local institutions with competencies in Chapters 23 and 24,

five brief alerts reacting to controversial normative proposals and practices - judicial laws, Draft Law on Internal Affairs, Draft Anti-Corruption Strategy, introduction of the Amber Alert system in Serbia, state response to mass murders of May 2023.

We organized nine conferences in Belgrade and six other cities in Serbia.

We provided inputs for the European Commission’s annual report on Serbia and commented on the published report in October 2023.

We regret the slow pace of Rule of Law reforms in Serbia, leaving the country half-way on the scale of preparedness for membership for years now.

We welcome the renewed interest in the enlargement policy within the European Union. Having in mind that a credible prospect of membership implies an internal adjustment of the Union, we highlight the importance of including future members in discussions on this topic.

About prEUgovor

Coalition prEUgovor is a network of civil society organisations formed in order to monitor the implementation of policies relating to the accession negotiations between Serbia and the EU, with an emphasis on Chapters 23 and 24 of the Acquis. In doing so, the coalition aims to use the EU integration process to help accomplish substantial progress in the further democratisation of the Serbian society.

Members of the coalition are: ASTRA - Anti-Trafficking Action, Autonomous Women's Centre (AWC), Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCSP), Centre for Investigative Journalism in Serbia (CINS), Centre for Applied European Studies (CPES), Group 484 and Transparency Serbia (TS).

Key product of the Coalition is its semi-annual independent shadow report on Cluster 1 reforms in Serbia.
